MEL DUBÉ Mel Dubé is a Canadian reggae jazz artist whose sound blends authentic Caribbean-inspired rhythms with smooth jazz, soulful R&B, and powerful vocals — a musical reflection she calls “soulful melodies of life.” Born in Toronto, Ontario, she has been active in music professionally since 2005, evolving from a sought-after background vocalist into a confident frontwoman and independent creative force. Her early live experience includes supporting acclaimed reggae performers and sharing stages with artists such as Lenn Hammond, Steele, Richie Stephens, JC Lodge, Exco Levi, and more — experiences that shaped her command as a live performer and deepened her connection to roots music. Mel Dubé’s music has gained recognition on Canadian reggae circuits; her single Going the Extra Mile charted in the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae Chart, peaking at #5 and maintaining a strong presence on reggae airwaves. She has been booked for festivals in a Europe and Jamaica and featured in City of Toronto artist presentations such as YYZ LIVE and Play the Parks. A defining moment in her career this year manifested a collaboration on the uplifting reggae anthem “Show Us the Way,” produced by Grammy-nominated and JUNO Award-winning Eddie Bullen. The track unites Mel Dubé with esteemed Canadian reggae voices Tasha T and Kandice KAS*H, showcasing her rich, emotive tone and commitment to music that speaks to unity, positivity, and cultural resilience. Her EP The Reveal further expands her musical palette, with tracks that weave reggae, jazz, and pop influences into vibrant storytelling and reflective soundscapes. As a live performer, Mel Dubé brings warmth, engaging stage presence, and an invitation for audiences to move, reflect, and connect — whether at intimate showcases, reggae festivals, or community events. With a career spanning over a decade, The Wild Woman has cultivated a distinctive performing style creatively centering her Blackness, womanity, and artistry for soul-stirring, aligning conversations. Embodying her heart work as Black, woman, and lesbian queer, The Wild Woman is a 2x award-winning spoken word artist, poet, author of “This Wild Woman is Speaking” self-published in 2021, and workshop facilitator. She is also an event producer, host, speaker, and live performance curator. Expressing her ingenuity through her language, culture, and untameable spirit for the healing, ascension, and self-pleasure of those around her, The Wild Woman creates new paradigms by honoring her wildness, and by living a full joy life— and in the process, encourages others to be and do the same.
