THE STRANGER'S CASE

By Ruth Goodwin

Over 400 years ago theatres and public spaces were closed to stop the spread of bubonic plague. During this time, it is widely believed that William Shakespeare wrote some of his most compelling works including, “The Strangers’ Case”, an appeal for humanity that remains as relevant today as ever. In this piece, performer Amaka Umeh, stumbles upon an abandoned theatre in the midst of a global pandemic and demands action from an empty audience. The film is a call for empathy and humanity and is dedicated to anyone who has ever felt like a stranger in their own home.
