Legendary Academy Award Winner Spike Lee paid tribute to Kobe Bryant at the 2020 Academy Awards by wearing a custom-made purple and gold suit with ‘24’ on the lapels, Bryant’s number in the latter part of his career.

Spike Lee also presented South Korean Director Bong Joon Ho (Parasite) with the Oscar for Best Directing. The parasite Director went on to win four of the top awards at the 92nd Academy Awards: Best Original Screenplay, best Directing, Best International Film, Best Picture. “Parasite” The South Korean thriller is the first foreign-language film to with Best Picture, shattering 92 years of history.

Spike Lee will receive the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Toronto Black Film Festival for his body of work, followed by a Movie-Discussion, hosted by The Festival’s Founder Fabienne Colas – actress, filmmaker, producer and Canada’s Top 100 most powerful Women.
