YOGURT RAISIN

By Michael Cooke

As the film opens, Jacob and Daryl listen to hip hop music and Jacob tells Daryl that he is having cold feet about marrying his sister. Jacob is a white male who considers himself an ally of Black people and an admirer of their culture. Daryl is a Black male and has seen racism in every form. He understands who Jacob is and unknowingly tolerates his attempts to appropriate Black culture. While Jacob is outside he sees his racist next-door neighbor, Greg a white middle aged man. Greg insisted that Jacob ‘watches’ who he brings into their neighborhood. The night before a man gets married is supposed to be fun so Jacob and his friends play cards but things get increasingly worse. There is a knock on the door and Jacob answers. Jacob's naïveté has put everyone in a precarious situation.
